Where it all started
It began with a trip
we were trying to plan.
The idea for Rail Trip Planner came from organising a European rail trip with friends. There were places to choose, different preferences to consider and plenty of questions about how to connect everything.
That was the starting point: a service that helps bring the planning together, while leaving the decisions in the traveller’s hands.
We’re an independent project based in Seville, Spain. The feedback from our first trial itineraries is helping us develop the service around what travellers actually find useful.

We have been studying European rail travel, from routes and rail passes to reservation rules and practical trip planning. That learning is an ongoing part of developing Rail Trip Planner.
Our focus is on how the pieces fit together: the time spent moving between cities, the pace of a day, where to stay and the choices to make before booking.
